Fairwood Forest

Fairwood Forest is a biologically diverse 4-acre forest patch along the 5800 – 5900 blocks of Fairwood Avenue in Hamilton, a strong inspiring neighborhood in northeastern Baltimore City.

It’s home to 23 species of trees and is part of an important hawk flyway where thousands of hawks are sighted each year. It is a unique place in an urban neighborhood where residents can see a wide variety of wildlife including red foxes, raccoons, opossums, bunnies, deer, spotted salamanders, and many birds. Fairwood Forest is a place where local children can experience nature – an opportunity that often is denied to those who grow up in an urban environment.

For more information about events or volunteering, please contact the forest steward Michael Karasik at [email protected]. To keep in touch about efforts to preserve the remaining acreage, join the â€śFriends of Fairwood Forest” Facebook group, visit fairwoodforest.org, or sign up for emails here.
