Baltimore Green Space is the only land trust that serves all of Baltimore through land preservation, technical assistance on issues of land security and community organizing, and advocacy.

Since our modest beginning, when we preserved one small thriving community garden facing development pressure, we’ve grown to protect 7 acres of community-led gardens, pocket parks, and forests, and we serve residents who are dedicated to preserving open spaces throughout the City.

While our reach has grown steadily, so has the need for preservation. With 20% of the city’s tree canopy in forest patches outside of parks, and with demolitions of hundreds of homes per year creating substantial vacant space, our work is more critical than ever. Communities must determine which open spaces in their neighborhood they see as permanent – and Baltimore Green Space must have the capacity to help them realize their visions.
